LANGUAGE Language is a big part of the M.R.D.S. lifestyle. It is how we communicate, express, and teach. The official language of M.R.D.S. is “Olelo o ka nani,” or “language of beauty” in Hawaiian. There are about 171,476 words in our vocabulary, that are still in use today. We communicate through writing/literature, art, music, dance, vocalization, and bodily gestures. There are also branches of our main language, such as the dialect “hoo kapu o ka olelo,” literally translating to “tributary of language.” Here are some of the most important words relating to or describing M.R.D.S. translated to English.

NUMBER SYSTEM
The base number for our numeral system is 5. This is appropriate for our culture, since there are 5 leaders in each of our three branches of government. Mathematics and numbers are used in our culture when dealing with trade, economics, wages, and everyday life. The symbols used in our system consist of a variety of flowers, swirls, lines, and dots.
